How is ELP Taught?

ELP is taught through Project Based Learning.  This is a shift from the teacher centered model of teaching to the student centered model of learning. PBL is activity based and structured around the students taking responsibility for their own learning.  The following is a list of possible activities that your child may be asked to participate in:

1.  Multiple Intelligence

2.  Learning Styles

3.  Student Centered Learning

4.  Meaningful and Authentic Tasks

5.  Higher Order Thinking (analysis, synthesis, evaluation)

6.  Concrete/hands on learning

7.  Cross Curricular Integration

8.  Activation and Determination of Prior Knowledge

What do the students do in the classroom?

The students have a weekly contract (Case Log) that is implemented.  They will earn Case Cash for completing weekly obligations.  This Case Cash will be used for special auctions held throughout the year.  Instructors/Para-Educators will serve students in the regular classroom as well.
