Andover Public Schools
K-5 Extended Learning Program
Extensions to Learning in the Regular Classroom 2009-2010

Vickie Olsen will be serving Martin, Wheatland, and Cottonwood schools, while Stacey King will work with Meadowlark, Prairie Creek, and Sunflower schools. Both teachers are working collaboratively so that all schools will receive equitable services. The primary job of these two instructors will be to provide services to all elementary students who have met the criteria for the Extended Learning Program (gifted) and who have an Individual Education Plan as provided through Special Education.
Denise Lasher, South ELP Aide, will be serving the grade levels by reinforcing the lessons/activities as prepared by the teacher. Due to funding for the position of the ELP Aide from the state of Kansas, the aide must be utilized in the classroom of the identified gifted student(s). This service (of thirty minutes) will be available up to four days a week. Due to her commitment and obligations to the gifted students within the ELP program, these services may need to be altered periodically throughout the year.
Mrs. Lasher will be able to service small groups, to include identified gifted and other high achieving/high ability students, within the classroom, under the direction and plans of the classroom instructor. These activities should include differentiated and higher level thinking strategies, which are necessary for the academic achievement of your bright learners.
If you have any questions regarding our program, please feel free to contact Ms. Vickie Olsen, Mrs. Stacey King, or your building Principal.
